BAE Systems Mechanical Engineering Intern - Summer in Honolulu, Hawaii

Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defense contractors and Fortune 500 Company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2018 at the Pearl Harbor Navy Shipyard (PHNSY) in Honolulu, HI.

The successful candidate will support the Engineering Department and be responsible for the following:

  • Becoming familiar with naval ship repair specifications

  • Interacting and provide support to various departments and trades

  • Performing ship stability calculations

  • Preparing 2D and 3D models of vessel and repair spaces

  • Applying structural, fluid and mechanical engineering principles

  • Reviewing documents for technical compliance

  • Participating in ship checks and witness dry dock operations

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Education

  • Must be a US Citizen or Naturalized Citizen

  • Must be able to obtain and retain base access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam

  • Must be able to board all ships and enter all spaces regardless of size.

  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs

  • Experience in writing reports

  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks, and/or similar modeling software

  • Must be enrolled full-time in a Engineering Program and must have completedat least two years of college courseworkprior to starting internship.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Preferred engineering student studying Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering

  • Preferred candidates attending college within approximately 50 miles of site

  • Preferred GPA 3.0 or higher
