About the Position:This position is with the Department of Logistic, Facilities Management Division, Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii.
Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
Defense National Relocation Program will not be authorized.
This position requires Rotating Shifts. The Shift hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm (Day shift), 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm (Swing shift), 10:00 pm to 6:30 am (Midnight shift) and relief shift work which is a mixture of the 3 shifts. TAMC is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.

As an Electrician, you will:
- Troubleshoot and repair of emergency facility problems.
- Perform manual switching of entire power distribution system if automatic controls fail.
- Monitor central computer control system for fire alarm locations within the hospital and assists fireman on any calls.
- Monitor all medical gas, medical air, fire, and blood bank alarms and reports discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, operate and test new and existing electrical systems.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience in: Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision performing common tasks to include installing, operating, maintaining, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, modifying, and repairing a variety of industrial-type and complex electrical systems such as automatic transfer switches, distribution panels, load centers, conduits, lighting fixtures, controls, outlets, relays, and switches in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Physical Effort: Works from ground level and from ladders, scaffolding and platforms where parts of systems worked are in hard to reach places. Employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to and occasionally in excess of 20 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed both in and out of doors where there is regular exposure to dirt, dust, grease, noise, and bad weather. There is also exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, broken bones, electrical shock, and burns. Shift work is required. Emergency request to report to work may be received at any hour of the day or night.
